Gable Insurance was declared bankrupt on 19 November 2016 in Liechtenstein. Gable Insurance sold insurance policies in Denmark via Husejernes Forsikring Assurance Agentur. On December 8, 2016, Husejernes Forsikringsagentur was also declared bankrupt.
Since none of the companies were a member of the Guarantee Fund for Non-life Insurers, the Danish Parliament adopted on December 8, 2016, after discussions with the organisation Forsikring & Pension, an amendment to the legislation, which means that Danish customers in Gable Insurance and Husejernes Forsikringsagentur covered by the Guarantee Fund for Non-life Insurers.
The amendment meant that the Danish Guarantee Fund provides cover for claims that otherwise would not be covered.
