The Danish Guarantee Fund for Non-Life Insurance Companies was established by the 2003 Guarantee Fund for Non-life Insurance Companies Act in consequence of the Danish non-life insurer Plus Forsikring A/S being left without insurance coverage upon its bankruptcy on 18 December 2002.
With the establishment of the Guarantee Fund, steps were taken within the field of non-life insurance to ensure that in the event of a non-life insurer’s bankruptcy coverage would be provided under the law.
The Fund is a self-governing institution regulated by statutory provisions and executive orders.
The Fund is supervised by The Danish Financial Supervisory Authority.
